Dull Event of the Month:
Find Hidden Driveways

Click picture to enlarge
One of the really fun and rewarding things Dull Men like to do on weekends is
drive around looking for hidden driveways.
When we find one, we go look for the owner to tell them we've found
their driveway.
September is also:
[Work in progress]
Other Events:
Emma M. Nutt Day — September 1
A day to honor the first woman telephone operator, Emma M. Nutt. Emma
began her professional career in Boston on September 1, 1878, continuing to
work there for the next 33 years.
She always said how grateful she was for being able to continue working for
such a long time.
She also said how grateful she was that her name was "Emma" and not
"Imma."
Oatmeal Festival — September 2-3
Oatmeal, Texas. You live in Texas but are tired of BBQs? If so, go to
Oatmeal, Texas where they celebrate Oatmeal, population 20, being put back
on the state map after years of being left off.
Running of the Sheep — September 3-4
Hundreds of sheep are run down the six blocks of Main Street of Reedpoint,
Montana. Also a Parade, Egg Tossing, and Ugliest Sheep Contest. Capped
off with the Prettiest Ewe Contest – "Miss Ewe of 2005.”
Great Peanut Tour — September 8-11
Beautiful Southside Virginia and Northeastern North Carolina. A special tour
to watch peanuts grow. Go here for more info:

Bald is Beautiful Convention — September 11-13
At Moorehead City, North Carolina. Goal is to cultivate a sense of pride for
bald-headed men and eliminate the vanity associated with loss of hair.
Is the town’s name, Moorehead, wrong for a baldness convention? Shouldn’t
it be Lesshead?
California Prune Festival —September 12-13
At Yuba City, California. Food festival with celebrity chefs. Many events are
scheduled. Many Porta-Johns (Porta-Loos) are scheduled.
Hummingbird Celebration — September 11-14
Rockport and Fulton, Texas. To celebrate the spectacular fall migration of
hummingbirds from their summer nesting grounds in the north to their winter
ground in Mexico and Central America.
Flatlander Fall Festival — September 26
Goodland, Kansas. Stock car races, crafts, food, games, entertainment,
motorcycle shoe. Why not also a Straight-Row Plowing Contest?
Fall Foliage Festival — September 26-October 2
Seven Vermont towns: Walden, Cabot, Plainfield, Peacham, Barnet, Groton,
and St. Johnsbury. They want you to come up and watch the leaves fall — a
leading type of safe excitement for dull men.
Events to Avoid
Wisconsin State Cow-Chip Throw — September 4
Featuring a Cow Chip Throwing Contest, 5K and 10K Runs, Arts and Crafts
Fair, and a Parade. But the Cow Pie Eating Contest is too much for us –
gross, in fact.
Be Late for Something Day — September 5
Sponsored by the Procrastinators Club of America. Not for us – dull men like
to be on time.
Watermelon Seed-Spitting and Speed-Eating Championship — September 12-13
The speed eating is okay for us, but the seed-spitting . . . not as gross as Cow
Pie Eating . . . but nonetheless gross enough to merit an “Avoid” warning from
the DMC.
