Earth is getting lighter?

It seems the earth is getting lighter. I was planning to go on a diet, but now I am not sure this is a good idea as it will only add to the problem.

Dear Steve,

This is important research. I didn't realize until now that this was happening. There is good news, however. It's happening slowly. Very slowly. Probably too slow for even a dull man to enjoy watching.

There's also the good news that you now have an excuse for not going on a diet.

I wonder what the danger of the earth getting lighter is? The earth will float away? To where?

This is certainly a concept which has never been considered by most of us...but since we know that mass can be converted into energy, does that mean that the more active people are, (thereby using up mass- food- and converting it into expended energy), we may be speeding up the lightening of our planet? Is this hazardous to our future generations? Should jumping jacks be curtailed?
