Tokyo Escalator — online collection of escalators

We learned about this collection from an article “Tokyo escalators are stairways to heaven” in PingMag. The article is about the website Tokyo Excalator, an online collection of “moving staircases that we take for granted in our daily lives”.

Miha Tamura started the website. She says she started it “because I wanted to do something no one else is doing. There are many website by people for railways, but I started it becuase there weren’t any cyclopedic website collection together escalators.”

 

 

 

 

The website includes a few esclators outside of Tokyo, like this one in Macy’s in New York, one of our favorite escalators, built in 1902 and still operating:
